| Recoilers are long-time
students in the school of rock. Over the years, the band has thrown
ample amounts of ingredients into its sonic melting pot of influences,
ranging from the Beach Boys to Sonic Youth. The result is loud guitar-heavy
stop-start riffs complemented with a strong sense of catchy melodies
and harmonies.
In 2001, the trio teamed up with Kelp Records to debut the six-song
album, For Decoration Only. Since then, the group has been recording
new material and emerging sporadically to make live appearances
before quickly retreating into hibernation again. Through this period
of dormancy Recoilers could be found spread about various other
outfits like The Acorn, Fiftymen, Greenfield Main, and Jim Bryson
and the Occasionals.
Their new full-length recording, 2 Years End was recorded by Ottawa's
Dave Draves of Little Bullhorn Productions between 2001 & 2003.
The album sees the band’s long evolution come to full fruition
in a grandiose blend of frantic guitars, divergent melodies and
nebulous, indie-pop gems.
